• I am a health coach as well. It really comes down to language. I never use the word "prescribe." Due to my functional medicine certification with SAFM, I do run labs but I suggest it as for education. If something is flagged, I refer to the appropriate specialist and make note of it in my notes that this was suggested to the client. I then make sure they followed up and make note of that as well. I had a client come to me with Dr saying she was pre-diabetic. Her first CGM readings were 300+ and never went below 180 mg/dl. I gave education on what this means, how it can impact her health, and suggested she report her readings to the prescribing practitioner. Her Dr gave scrips for CGMs but offered no counseling nor did he ever ask to see the data, hence she came to me for that education. Sybil

• Hi! LCHF in the treatment of hypoglycemia is a topic I don't think I've seen much of in the literature or in webinars. I have a client that deals with hypoglycemia so it's been trial and error figuring out what works for her. Sybil

• I would say that depends on you. You have to find your niche. Your interest. We cannot cover everything so it is best to get good at one thing.

• Are you looking at a solely nutrition solution? Have you integrated some resistance training and looked at the impact that increasing lean mass and glycolytic activity to help the process? I have consistently had great success adding functional resistance training to deal with this exact issue.

• Hi Andrea, I have a client who sounds like your description, including normal weight (life long normal weight) and family history of diabetes. Have you learned anything more since your April post? My client also has unusually low triglycerides, in the 30s. I'm curious about that, too.

• Hi Jacqui, I'm also looking into a position, and came across one that sounds like exactly what you're describing. It's even in Maryland! I sent in an application and haven't heard back. I can't find the original job posting at the moment, but it was with Suruchi Chandra, MD- Integrative Psychiatry and Medicine, Bethesda, MD. Seems like a good connection for you if you haven't already found it. The posting was for potentially also an online coach, which is why I applied though I'm on the opposite side of the country myself.

• Tanita devices are comparable to InBody in performance. Inbody has a much longer clinical history though. I have used InBody devices for almost 10 years. You can get an at-home model that will serve you just as well as a commercial version if all you need is the data. The commercial devices have printout and history storage options that can be nice but are not completely necessary. An at-home model is $300-$400 vs $6k-$10k for a commercial one.
