Great tribute, Doug! I had the pleasure of being on a few zoom calls with Adele and even in those brief moments she made an impact on me as a practitioner. She will be missed but the mission remains!

My name is Kendrick Murphy. I am a primary care clinical pharmacy specialist with the Department of Veterans Affairs in North Carolina (just moved here after being in Arizona for 7 years). About 3 years ago while on paternity leave I was fortunate enough to have a colleague of mine introduce me to The Obesity Code by Jason Fung. Needless to say, from that point on I have dedicated myself to learning more and more about metabolism and therapeutic nutrition. Upon my return from that paternity leave 3 years ago, it has been my mission at work to focus as much as I can on helping people improve their lifestyle in order to improve their health. In the past 3 years I have discontinued more medications and helped to reverse more diabetes and hypertension than the previous 5 years of my career combined. I take pride in trying to deprescribe whenever possible and avoid starting or adding medications whenever clinically appropriate. I no longer wish to manage disease when I know there is a way to reverse disease. Because of my approach, unsurprisingly (and sadly), I had not made many allies. Then I attended the Low Carb USA conference in San Diego in 2019 and my mind was blown. It was an amazing experience and it was such a great feeling to see that not only was I not alone, but I was a small fish in a huge pond! As a member of this community, my hope is to continue learning from you all, but also to seek opportunities for collaboration and networking with fellow healthcare professionals who share a passion for this approach to improving our patients’ health and well-being. Thanks for reading!
