I'm so sorry to see this level of fear and confusion around foods. I'm assuming that you have had a recent cancer diagnosis then went online to research the best anticancer diet. That space is a minefield of misinformation! There are resources on this site, backed up by peer-reviewed research. And there are videos from past Low Carb USA events posted on the Keto-Mojo website. Eggs are a perfect food, especially if you can afford to get them locally from organic farms. Same for meat, and yes, high quality is more expensive but you don't need hugh quantities. Dairy has some issues, especially for hormone-sensitive cancers. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will share a PDF. I will also share my food list. So many great options there! Fasting for long periods of time is not necessary to reduce glutamine. Long fasts can work against the need to stay well nourished and maintain muscle mass. Instead, there are nutritional strategies (amount, sources, timing of intake) that can help limit the impact.

A disorder of the hypothalamic pituitary axis?? I recently had a client with very high fasting insulin and persistent obesity despite a very low carb / calorie diet. An MRI of the brain done to check for cancer-related brain metastases was clean for the mets but did reveal a pituitary anomaly that may be responsible for her persistently high insulin. Did you look at fasting insulin? Do they keep a food log?

What a thoughtful comment! And I see your point that are health and wellness audience may not identify with the term therapeutic. In cases where we are proposing an alternative to the current standard of care then I think we need to retain "therapeutic." When we're talking about the enormous opportunities in improving metabolic health and wellness then "calibration" (or "recalibration") seems like a great fit because we could apply that to so much more than carbohydrates. Look at the lasting impact of Dale Ornish's work. A lifestyle program that achieved better results, not because the diet was ideal but instead because he built a community around it. It might help us to create a Venn diagram or an infographic that illustrates this.
